The American Experience - 1964 on PBS

...and what a year it was. Some would argue a pivotal and massive turning point. If you have a chance, take a look.

Everything from the Mustang to the Beatles, from the Voting Rights Act to Vietnam. Goldwater had his head handed to him and LBJ declared the all out 'War On Poverty'.

Thanks for the link Carl.

Yes, anybody too young to experience the year will learn a lot as well as enjoying the excellent presentation.

I was three, but remember a tiny bit. The show was very informative for me- one who is mentally stuck in the 60's.

I'll have to watch that.

I'd love to be able to go back to that year and knock some sense into that stupid 17 year old kid that i was,

Wow!

In 1964, 27 Republicans voted for the Civil Rights Act!

What an incredible fact that demonstrates how far the Republican Party has fallen in the last 50 years due to their "Southern Strategy".

Can you imagine how many of today's Republican Senators would have voted for that?

Maybe one?

Maybe Susan Collins from Maine.

And that's just a maybe IMO.

I mean seriously, name some that you think would have.

Hell most of them today would vote to repeal it given the chance.
