I no longer display a US flag, as it has become a de facto symbol of support for this self-styled autocrat whom I thoroughly despise.

Yahoo Sports reported Thursday that lawyers for the former San Francisco 49ers quarterback will look to compel testimony from Trump, Pence and others who are familiar with the president's stance against players who protest during the national anthem.

Sources told the site that the subpoenas would likely focus on the Trump administration’s involvement with the NFL since Kaepernick opted out of his contract with the 49ers in 2017.

Yahoo Sports noted reports that Trump had spoken directly with some NFL owners about the protests, with sources telling the outlet that those conversations, and any pressure exerted on the NFL from Trump officials, would shape the subpoenas.

Kaepernick filed a grievance against NFL owners last year, alleging that they colluded to keep him out of the league.

Huh?
It does not surprise me that Trump tried to interfere more in this controversy, but does he have any legal authority to pressure NFL team owners, assumingely, to force them to adopt policies regarding the protesters?

Back when the Broncos won their first superbowl, and John Elway the QB was playing, I had some interest. Right after they had won, Pat Bowlen, the owner told us folks in Denver, that if we did not pay for the construction of a new stadium, he was taking the team out of Denver. Our support had gotten him to where he was. I have not watched a single game since. So no, I don;t give a #%QQ#&+!!!????#$%#^#^ about anything they do. My only hope is they all go bankrupt and cease to exist.

The team owners are loyal only to themselves, sound familiar?

Players do about as well as most host cities.

It sure is funny how the right howls when it's pointed out that they're acting like authoritarians and then they pull stunts like this.

Nike I am sure is thanking Trump silently for their sales boost, probably a small windfall.

Nike's Kaepernick ad spurs spike in sold-out items

Quote:

(Reuters) - Nike Inc (NKE.N) has sold out 61 percent more merchandise since the controversial ad campaign featuring former NFL player Colin Kaepernick appeared earlier this month, according to data on the company’s online sales from Thomson Reuters Proprietary Research.
Quote:

President Donald Trump also tweeted, without providing evidence, that “Nike is getting absolutely killed with anger and boycotts”.

But the research by Thomson Reuters, conducted in collaboration with StyleSage Co, showed here the world's largest sportswear maker sold out far more items between Sept. 3 and Sept. 13 than in the 10-day period before the ad came out.

^^^^^^ Ya think Fox "News" will be reporting this to Donny's idiot base? Nike obviously can read the national mood a lot better than Donny and his angry old racist white male supporters..

Rajoo 09-19-2018 11:16 PM

^^Can you imagine Trump running a company like Nike? I am certain that his tribe thinks he can and will excel at it.
