Running on ideas is too difficult. To be effective, you need an electorate who is willing to invest the time and thought necessary to understand them.

Running on anger is far simpler. Everyone understands anger, and the less thought given to a subject, the more pissed off people become. Ain't nothing easier than going through life with a bug up your ass.
