George Santos Thread

I have a feeling that we're gonna be treated to quite a shit show courtesy of The Talented Mr. Santos. To wit:

Rep. George Santos (R-N.Y.), who has admitted to fabricating key details of his biography, received payments as recently as April 2021 from a financial services company accused by the Securities and Exchange Commission of a “classic Ponzi scheme,” according to a court-appointed lawyer reviewing the firm’s assets.

Santos did not divulge any income from the company, Florida-based Harbor City Capital, on a financial disclosure form required of all federal candidates.

This clown is now under investigation by the Nassau County District Attorney, NY AG, US Attorney - EDNY, the FEC, the SEC, the House Ethics Committee and the country of Brazil. And he's been in Congress for a week.

How the GOP didn't vet this clown is a head scratcher. A confederacy of dunces comes to mind.

The House Ethics Committee has been completely defanged by the new clowns in town, so wouldn't count on it doing anything. Nor will his fellow House Repubes do a damn thing, as they're all corrupt. Whell's World.

Looks like the GOP hasn't found it's bottoming out yet.

Just how much worse will it have to get, before the fever breaks?

An R in the seat is all that matters to them. Don't forget, they tried real hard to get Herschel Walker elected.

There are indications that they knew he was a fabulist, but didn't care.

It's not the sort of thing sociopaths care about.

I don't believe either party expected this clown to win, so neither paid too much attention till he won. I have read reports where the NY Republican party knew this guy was not all there, but they laughed him off as a joke.

Concerns over Rep. George Santos’ backstory became louder over the summer and into the fall campaign season, and issues surrounding the recently elected Republican congressman from New York had not been a secret, a GOP source told CNN on Friday.

When it became clearer that Santos had a chance at winning his New York district, people talked more about how his backstory didn’t add up, the source said.

There was trepidation among consultants, donors and other Republicans – including those in Washington – that what Santos was saying about himself wasn’t accurate and that his biography didn’t line up, the source said. There had also been an expectation that some kind of major story would drop in the press before the election, the source said. But that story never came.

Among those who expressed concerns, according to a source, was Dan Conston, president of the Congressional Leadership Fund PAC and a close associate of now-House Speaker Kevin McCarthy. Conston contacted lawmakers and donors, sharing his concerns about Santos, the source said.

Republicans, including Kevin McCarthy knew full well that Santos was a liar and a fraud.

The only thing that mattered was him winning the seat for "their team". Don't forget, the R's tried really, really hard to get Herschel Walker elected.
