The Sodomite Suppression Act
SACRAMENTO (CBS SF) — A ballot proposal criminalizing sodomy and allowing the death penalty for anyone who “touches another person of the same gender for purposes of sexual gratification” is moving forward.
http://www.latimes.com/local/politic...324-story.html In response, a California woman named Charlotte Laws has paid the $200 initial fee in order to file for a new "Intolerant Jackass Act" proposition to the same ballot. It probably will fail to make the ballot as it has already been identified as being contrary to the 1st Amendment. It's a great country. |
I heard a story regarding the proposal on NPR last night. The initiative petition law prohibits the AG from rejecting any proposed measure. I agree with that restriction. I would not want one powerful political official to hold the key to the initiative petition process. I do understand, however, that the AG is pursuing some sort of court action to have a court determine whether the petition is unconstitutional on its face.

So according to this proposition it is not a crime if they are of the opposite sex?

FWIW :) Change.org has a petition up demanding this California attorney, McLaughlin, who started this be disbarred.
45,000+ signatures and counting. |
Isn't direct democracy wonderful? :p
