July Was Hottest Month Ever Recorded

I'm not surprised. Here in Mobile it was a Helluva lot hotter this July than it was last July. We had highs in the mid 90's all month long and feels like temps in triple digits.

The previously available evidence for that statement is staggering and on Thursday the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration in the U.S. announced that July was the hottest month the planet has ever experienced since records began and that both land and ocean temperatures are on pace to make 2015 the hottest year ever recorded.

According to NOAA's latest figures, the July average temperature across global land and ocean surfaces was 1.46°F (0.81°C) above the 20th century average. As July consistently marks the warmest month of the year, NOAA said this most recent one now registers as having the all-time highest monthly temperature since records began in 1880, with an average global thermometer reading of 61.86°F (16.61°C)

Iran, actually, and it was the "heat index." The actual temperature was "only" about 115.

Baghdad actually beat that with a temperature of 122 but, since the dewpoint was low, the heat index was much lower, 115 degrees.

In South West Germany July 2015 was the hottest July since the beginning of weather recordings in 1881.

Hot summers in Germany do indeed result in better wines and this has been the case for several years now. It can often be cool and wet there, resulting in grapes that don't reach their full potential. There has been plenty written about this in the past couple of years. The fact that you're ignorant about something doesn't make it untrue.

We're in for a bumpy ride, at the very least.
