Sequestration’s shocking job toll: One measly bureaucrat in entire government

Only one employee in the entire federal government lost a job due to sequestration, according to a government audit that found the only permanent cut came at the U.S. Parole Commission, which eliminated one position.

The Report

“Despite relentless warnings about the dire consequences of sequestration’s budget cuts, it appears sequestration resulted in only one layoff,” he said. “While that’s good news for federal employees and other workers, it is devastating to the credibility of Washington politicians and administration officials who spent months — and millions of dollars — engaging in a coordinated multi-agency cabinet-level public relations campaign to scare the American people.”
A year ago at this time, sequestration was a major part of the political conversation in Washington. The cuts, which kicked in March 1, 2013, reduced spending at nearly every federal department and agency and President Obama and Democrats on Capitol Hill warned of devastating impacts on government services, and a major dent to the economy.

I saw that and thought it made Harry Reid and the gang look like idiots when they replayed them railing against the sequestration doomsday . If you tighten their belts enough, they seem to be able to do the same job with less. The irony was watching Obama brag about saving when it was a direct result of the mandatory sequestration. Obama does that a lot. He even grabbed credit for our new found domestic oil.

Right.... The impact of sequestration wasn't felt at the federal level.

The impact was felt at the state level and, most severely, the local level.

Those sequestration cuts trickled right down to the trenches where the real work is done. And, after furloughs and lay offs, then services were cut.

Wow Barbara that sounds like someone who believes in state rights.

You're dead fucking wrong about that. Everyone else has not cooled down. 5 below is a lyme disease ridden deer tick on the ass of this forum. His only purpose here is to create havoc...and if you think he would stop if every other member simply decided to not respond and just ignore him, you're dead fucking wrong about that as well. Get rid of him.

Please note...I am not responding to him. But I will not just STFU about him.

So...for the moron's information, and for the information of any other moron on this forum who believes otherwise...the sequestration was the idea of Congressional Republicans who thought they could scare the Democrats into agreeing to tax cuts for the rich. The only thing Obama and the Democrats had to do with it was calling their bluff.

Of couse Barbara. And it's only an idiot troublemaker who would suggest that this makes you sound like some state's rights cretin.

Although to suggest that federal employees were not hurt by the sequestration is just another right wing lie. Thousands of federal employees were laid off during the sequestration. Several of them are friends from the staff of the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore. As far as I know, that was income lost to them forever.

Ike, I didn't realize there were layoffs at the federal level.
