Hagel Hearings

I heard some excerpts of the Hegel hearings on the radio. Jim Inhofe took the position that he couldn't approve Hagel because he would follow the policies of Barack Obama. The nerve of the President seeking to appoint a cabinet that would agree with his policies.

Inhofe is completely 'round the twist! (Sorry, I'm listening to early Peter Green Fleetwood Mac. The British slang just sort of sneaked in. My, god! This stuff is nearly 50 years old!)

Well that is what Obama gets for appointing a Republican for Defense Secretary, an enlisted combat veteran at that. I guess someone with out any real war time experience or with notions of invading countries on the cheap might have been bett....ooops Rumsfield was already Defense Secretary ..never mind....

Yeh, good old Don Rumsfeld. Patty could tell some hair raising stories about his slash and burn tenure at Searle Pharmaceuticals when she was a rep there.:(

Maybe the new SOS could provide some arm twisting? He knows where a lot of the bodies are buried and who has skeletons in their closets in the senate...

Nobody stupid or uncaring enough to select Sarah Palin as his running mate has any business in the White House. That is the beginning and the end of all you need to know about McCain.

McCain was downright nasty.....and was concentrating on the surge when he knows who full well he was dead wrong on the WMDs....

I have almost lost all respect for him and that makes me feel bad, especially since he spent 6 years in a POW camp. However, both he and Hegel made it back home alive. Many did not. I think Hegel is just saying that any future deployments should not be made lightly because American troops will die.

As far as the surge working? I think it had more to do with the United States paying off the Sunni insurgents with cash than any increase in troop levels. Paying them off in Anbar province was David Petraeus' idea and it worked. Plus by that time even the Sunnis were getting tired of both the civil war and Al Quaeda in Iraq. And many American troops died after the surge too.

It will be many years before we know if Iraq was indeed any sort of success. McCain looked like he was trying to say that he was correct on the war....give me a break.
