The 'Baltimore Sun' Goes Down

Yet another big city daily newpaper goes into the pulper. Taken over by Sinclair.

Quite sad to see the demise of the home of HL Mencken and David Simon, particularly at the hands of Sinclair. My father-in-law (RIP) worked his entire career as a master pressman for the Sun.

I've read that their (Sinclair) aim is to make it more like WBFF FOX 45 the local Sinclair affiliate. WBFF FOX 45 the one local station I wouldn't trust for the time of day without checking first. Spoiler alert for Sinclair. Their target audience aren't readers.

I'm old enough to remember when we had the Morning Sun, Evening Sun along with separate Saturday and Sunday editions.

Yep. My father-in-law referred to his employer as the Sun Papers, even after The Baltimore Sun became the only edition of the paper.

The cultural replacement of newspapers isn't quite here. It will be powered by AI.
