Is it all about race?

I have a hard time beliving it's all about race. Am I naive because I am form an urban area?

finnbow 09-16-2010 09:17 AM

Nope, it's not all about racism, in a direct sense at least. Racism just happens to be a shortcut into the baser instincts of the wingnuts. If Hillary were to have been elected, they would have had to employer another avenue to these base instincts. Obama's election just happened to make racism the most convenient avenue. If it were Hillary, they would have dredged up Whitewater or Vince Foster again, ridiculed her fat legs and pantsuits, etc. Racial attacks are a means to an end.

In a sense, yes. In both instances, it's taking the easy way out (i.e., ridiculing the person and not his policies/effectiveness). That said, racial attacks are a bit more insidious, IMHO.

Pete - Ouch. You're to blame if my libido takes a brief holiday.

OTOH, most everybody I know (including myself) looked something like that in college and the "earth-mothers" were certainly among the horniest of all back then. Just think, this gal latched on to a true Country Casanova.

No, it's not. But, finding sly ways "race bait" is an old tactic. It's amazing that people continue to fall for it time and time again. As I have said; People have valid concerns about the presidents policies, but do you think it would have quite the tone it does if he were white? I don't. So, is it ALL about race, no. Is race a factor? Yes, it is.

We've been over this before..............

What I'm saying is that if the guy were white, the same folks would still oppose the policies and ideology. But, it's easier to agitate suspicions of conspiracy and malfeasance, when race is involved.

Lmao!

Blue, what if, in a more cynical land, the Dems were playing to race card to vilify those whose disagreed with their policies?

Nah, never happen ;)

I don't think it's ALL about race. Nothing is ever All about anything. That being said, I think racism is at the root of the hatred (as opposed to opposition to) of Obama. It's really the only way to explain the phenomenon.

As for Maher, I don't really pay too much attention to him. After all, he dated Anne Coulter. :)
