Mr Gorbachev was 91 when he passed today.

He always struck me as clear-headed and a man of good will. RIP indeed.

That's a really excellent obituary from a great writer/author. I've read several of his books and they're great (The Dead Hand, The Billion Dollar Spy).

Rest in Peace Mikhail.

Russia could benefit from more of his mold!

How so?

From my memory he wanted to move the Soviet Union forward into a more Western friendly posture. Less confrontational more a partnership.

For that he was removed and replaced, IIRC.

He did not understand the relentless, balkanizing force that beset his country and so was very trusting.
